The perfect spider craft for Halloween!
(Toddler and Preschool, 5-10 year olds)
Totally inspired by Happy Hooligans we decided to make paper plate spiders as today’s after school craft!
You will need:
- Paper plate
- Googly eyes
- Black card (8 strips)
First colour in your plate. We decided to use black, brown and purple for a bit of excitement!
Next glue on some googly eyes. We used two different sizes and stuck them on randomly for a halloween feel.
Then it’s time for the legs.
Fold the card in two places – the first fold about 2cm from the end and second fold about half way along the remainder of the strip.
Glue the 2cm fold and stick this to the under side of the plate.
And there you have it, a paper plate spider!
As I always say creative tasks are super for developing all sorts of skills. Crafts involve problem solving, invention, motor skills, expression and sense of achievement.
- You could try using paint or collage to decorate the plate instead of crayons, especially for older children.
- We tore the strips rather than cut them to make the legs look hairy.
